SPARTAN

About Spartan

Spartan is a Canadian-born beauty, developed in British Columbia in the 1930s as a cross between McIntosh and Newton Pippin. It was one of the first apple varieties to be bred from controlled cross-pollination, and its creators clearly struck gold. With its deep crimson skin and snowy white flesh, Spartan delivers the classic “apple look” you’d expect in a storybook illustration. Its approachable size and appealing color make it a favorite in fruit bowls and markets alike.

Bite into a Spartan, and you’re greeted with a delightful sweet-tart flavor that leans slightly toward the sweeter side, making it an easy crowd-pleaser. Its crisp texture has just enough tenderness to give way easily without losing that satisfying crunch. The flavor is clean and bright, with a McIntosh-like juiciness and a subtle floral note that adds complexity without overpowering.
